Patient Preparation
What to Expect:
- Bring a referral from your family doctor or specialist.
- Bring your Medicare card, DVA card, and details of private health insurance if applicable.
- A list of current medications and allergies.
- Results of any recent tests, such as blood tests, scans, or x-rays.
- Our location: 48 Hills Street, North Gosford - A well signposted house on Hills Street close to Gosford City Centre, Gosford Hospital, and Gosford Train Station. Please endeavour to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. There are limited parking spaces behind the building as well as on street parking.
First Visit:
- The specialist doctor will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and relevant lifestyle choices. Further tests or procedures may be arranged. Payment is expected at the time of consultation, and Medicare rebates can be organised.
Rescheduling or Cancelling Appointments:
- If you need to reschedule or cancel, contact our reception staff on (02) 4324 5011 as soon as possible. We can arrange a new appointment and offer your existing slot to another patient.

We are a well signposted house on Hills Street close to Gosford City Centre, Gosford Hospital, and Gosford Train Station. Please endeavour to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. There are limited parking spaces behind the building as well as on street parking.
Should you require a consultation, rather than direct access procedure, the more information you can provide our doctors the better. In particular, please bring a current list of your medications and any relevant previous investigation results.
The gastroenterologist will review your symptoms, medical history, and may examine you. They will then discuss potential diagnoses, the need for investigations including endoscopic procedures and potential treatments.
Payment is expected at the time of your consultation and we can organise the Medicare rebate at this time for you. Please bring your Medicare or DVA card, private health insurance details.
Direct access endoscopy means being booked directly for a procedure without prior consultation in our rooms, allowing a shorter wait time.
Yes, direct access procedures are available at our local private hospitals for appropriate patients. After receiving a referral, our specialist gastroenterology and endoscopy nurse will conduct a phone interview to ensure direct access is appropriate and schedule your procedure. We triage referrals received from GPs and if direct access seems appropriate, we will contact you.

Note: For all new consultations, a referral from either a GP or specialist is required. Please either email your referral or ask your GP to do it for you prior to your appointment. Our email address is reception@hillsstgastro.com.au.
